Death Certificates
Effective August 28th, 2020, with the Governor’s recent signing of HB 2046, the fee collected for each death certificate will increase by $1.00 to $14.00 for the first certified copy. The fee for each additional certified copy, ordered at the same time for the same person, will also increase by $1.00 to $11.00. We can accept cash or card for payment. Death certificates are available for deaths occurring in Missouri from 1980 to the present.
Death certificates may be issued to relatives or to third parties with a legal need. Please be ready to provide the deceased person's full name and the date and city of death. If you are not a relative, you may also be asked to fill out additional paperwork in order to receive the death certificate.
Out-of-State Certificates
Certificates for births, deaths, marriages, and divorces that took place outside of Missouri can be obtained by visiting the National Center for Health Statistics or VitalChek online. Fees and delivery times may vary by state and by document.
