By age 2, children can begin brushing their teeth with a pea-sized drop of toothpaste with fluoride. Teach your child to brush for two minutes and then spit the toothpaste out.
Fluoride toothpaste helps protect the teeth against cavities.
Give your child milk or water to drink, rather than sugary drinks, soda or chocolate milk. Encourage fruit instead of candy or sticky foods like fruit roll-ups which cling to teeth and lead to tooth decay and cavities.
